Dromaeosauripus hamanensis ichnogen. et ichnosp. nov z Korei
Kim, J.Y., Kim, K.S., Lockley, M.G., Yang, S.Y., Seo, S.J., Choi, H.I., and
Lim, J.D. 2008. New didactyl dinosaur footprints (Dromaeosauripus hamanensis
ichnogen. et ichnosp. nov.) from the Early Cretaceous Haman Formation, south
coast of Korea. Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology
262(1-2):72-78. doi: 10.1016/j.palaeo.2008.02.003.
ABSTRACT: Didactyl dinosaur footprints in fine-grained sandstone of the
Early Cretaceous Haman Formation, Namhae area, Korea are herein described.
The tracks are ~ 15 cm long and ~ 9.0 cm wide and consist only of
impressions of digits III and IV, which show well-developed pad impressions.
Digit impressions are narrow (about 2.0 cm), and terminate in sharp claw
traces. Trackway width is very narrow, about 10.0 cm. Step length is about
92 cm and stride is about 185 cm. Pace angulation is about 180°, i.e.,
consecutive tracks are nearly in a straight line. The tracks are thought to
have been made by a dromaeosaurid characterized by a strongly recurved, pes
digit II that did not register on the substrate.
The didactyl trackway is attributed to a small dromaeosaurid
(Deinonychosauria) running bipedally with a speed of 17.5 km/h on a lake
margin. The didactyl tracks, described herein as Dromaeosauripus hamanensis
ichnogen. et ichnosp. nov. represent only the fourth convincing record of
didactyl tracks attributable to a member of the Deinonychosauria in the
world, and the first in Korea. The report also provides significant
information about the hip height, body size, foot morphology, walking or
running speed, paleoecology, and paleogeography of dromaeosaurids that
flourished during the Early Cretaceous in northeast Asia.

Embryos of therizinosauroid theropods
KundrĂĄt, M., A. R. I. Cruickshank, T. W. Manning & J. Nudds. 2008.
Embryos of therizinosauroid theropods from the Upper Cretaceous of
China: diagnosis and analysis of ossification patterns. _Acta Zoologica_
89 (3): 231-251.
"Exceptionally complete, in ovo dinosaur embryos from the Upper
Cretaceous of China are analysed. Ossification patterns of these embryos
suggest that they died during the final third of their development. The
therizinosauroid identity of the embryos follows from: (1) an edentulous
premaxilla with a sharp downturned edge; (2) dentary with a lateral
shelf; (3) teeth with fan-shaped crowns, with a few marginal cusps; (4)
humerus with a massive deltopectoral crest extending proximally, with a
pointed proximomedial tuberosity; (5) ilium with an expanded and hooked
preacetabular process; (6) strongly curved hypertrophied manual unguals
tapering to sharp points. These embryos are closest to two Chinese
therizinosauroids, Neimongosaurus yangi Zhang et al. 2001 and
Erliansaurus bellamanus Xu et al. 2002. An elongated narial opening,
reduced basipterygoid process, low cervical neural spines, a
transversely narrow pubic apron, and a pubic foot expanded anteriorly
are found in these embryos and are synapomorphies uniting the
Therizinosauroidea and the Oviraptorosauria. Fusion of cervical and
caudal neural arches and centra, complete ossification of thoracic ribs
and ilium, possible co-ossification of tibia and fibula, fused pubes,
complete meta- and acropodial elements, together with small portions of
unossified epiphyses of long bones suggest an advanced precociality of
these embryos."

Anatomia czÄĹci okolicy policzkowej Lesothosaurus
KNOLL, F. (2008): Buccal soft anatomy in Lesothosaurus (Dinosauria: Ornithischia). Neues Jahrbuch fßr Geologie und Paläontologie - Abhandlungen, Volume 248, Number 3, June 2008, 355?364; Stuttgart.
Abstract: The probable buccal soft anatomy of the basal ornithopod Lesothosaurus, from the Early Jurassic of southern Africa, is appraised. A labial emargination does not establish the existence of a malar structure because such a configuration is present in a number of extant lizards, but generally absent in mammals. Judging from the condition in lizards, the pattern of labial foramination is not reliable evidence of the presence of cheeks either. The perioral hard anatomy of Lesothosaurus does not offer any conclusive support for the presence of cheeks or mammalian style lips. Lesothosaurus very probably bore both an upper and a lower horny beak of very limited caudal extent, based on the vascularized and roughened surface texture of the rostral extremities of the jaws.

Jun, Chen; Butler, Richard J.; Liyong, Jin. 2008. New material of large-bodied ornithischian dinosaurs, including an iguanodontian ornithopod, from the Quantou Formation (middle Cretaceous: Aptian-Cenomanian) of Jilin Province, northeastern China. Neues Jahrbuch fßr Geologie und Paläontologie - Abhandlungen, Volume 248, Number 3, June 2008 , pp. 309-314(6)
The Quantou Formation of Jilin Province, Northeast China, has recently yielded an important new middle Cretaceous (Aptian-Cenomanian) fauna of terrestrial vertebrates, including zalambdalestid mammals, basal ornithopod dinosaurs and basal ceratopsian dinosaurs. Here we describe well-preserved but isolated and fragmentary material of large-bodied ornithischian dinosaurs from this formation. An isolated humerus represents an iguanodontian ornithopod dinosaur, expanding the known stratigraphic and geographic range of this group within China. Other material (partial distal tibia, series of three dorsal vertebrae apparently representing part of a fused synsacrum) can only be assigned to Ornithischia indet.

Anatomy and Phylogenetic relationship of Tazoudasaurus naimi
Chyba jeszcze nie bylo na forum.
PDF: http://www.mnhn.fr/museum/front/medias/ ... 08n2a5.pdfAllain, R. & Aquesbi, N. (2008). Anatomy and Phylogenetic relationship of Tazoudasaurus naimi (Dinosauria, Sauropoda) from the late early Jurassic of Morocco. Geodiversitas 30 (2): 345-424.
Abstract: The complete osteology of the basal sauropod Tazoudasaurus naimi from the late Early Jurassic Toundoute continental series of Ouarzazate Province, Morocco, is presented. The described material belongs to juvenile to adult individuals. The skeleton of Tazoudasaurus is virtually complete except for the skull and presents a combination of plesiomorphic and apomorphic sauropodomorph characters. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that Tazoudasaurus shares with Vulcanodon several derived features that include strongly transversely flattened tibial shaft and the marked dorsoventral flattening of the unguals of pedal digits II and III. Both taxa are placed within the Vulcanodontidae, at the base of a new clade named Gravisauria n. nom. Our analysis underscores the major morphological changes that occur among Gravisauria between the Vulcanodontidae and the Eusauropoda. The numerous remains of Tazoudasaurus were recovered from a bone-bed associated with a few remains of the basal abelisauroid Berberosaurus. A minimum of six individuals was buried at the site. Taphonomical data suggest that Tazoudasaurus had a gregarious behaviour. The different interpretations of the evolution of the configuration and posture of the manus in basal sauropods can be tested thanks to the discovery of a complete articulated manus of Tazoudasaurus. The latter is clearly digitigrade with a spreading configuration of the metacarpus. Early sauropod evolution is analyzed in a broad extinction/ radiation perspective. Prosauropoda and Coelophysoidea extinction around the Pliensbachian-Toarcian boundary, followed by the late Early Jurassic to Middle Jurassic radiation of Gravisauria, Neoceratosauria, Tetanurae and Euornithopoda are linked to the Pliensbachian-Toarcian mass extinction event.

Tajemniczy gĂłrski dinozaur byÄ moĹźe nowym gatunkiem...
W roku 1971 w Kolumbii Brytyjskiej zostaĹ odnaleziony czÄĹciowy szkielet dinozaura, ktĂłry jest pierwszym znalezionym okazem tych gadĂłw w kanadyjskich gĂłrach. WedĹug badaczy moĹźe on reprezentowaÄ nowy nieznany nauce gatunek. Odnalezione w basenie Sustut w pĂłĹnocno-centralnej Kolumbii Brytyjskiej koĹci, liczÄ sobie okoĹo 70 milionĂłw lat i przez 34 lata leĹźaĹy zapomniane w magazynach tutejszego instytutu. The anatomy and systematic position of C. tashuikouensis
;)
Benson, R.B. and Xu, X. 2008. The anatomy and systematic position of the theropod dinosaur Chilantaisaurus tashuikouensis Hu, 1964 from the Early Cretaceous of Alanshan, People's Republic of China. Geol. Mag.: 1-12.
Abstract – There is little consensus on the systematic position of the colossal theropod dinosaur Chilantaisaurus tashuikouensis from the Cretaceous (Aptian–?Albian or Upper Cretaceous)Ulansuhai Formation of Inner Mongolia, which has been recovered as a derived member of both Allosauroidea and Spinosauroidea by numerical phylogenetic analyses. Redescription of the type material of C. tashuikouensis reveals an unusual combination of morphological features that render determination of its systematic position problematic. It possesses anatomical features that have been proposed as synapomorphies of Neotetanurae: a preacetabular fossa on the ilium, and a wedge-shaped crosssection of the shaft of the third metatarsal. It also shares some features with specific allosauroid taxa: a pronounced ulnar epicondyle on the humerus, and a prominent medial shelf bounding the preacetabular fossa on the ilium (also present in tyrannosauroids). However, it lacks some features that are present in all other allosauroids: a marked depression on the anterior surface of the distal humerus adjacent to the ulnar condyle, and a humerus that is less than 0.4 times the length of the femur; it furthermore possesses a tibial astragalar facet that is approximately 10 % of the tibial length, which suggests a more basal position within Tetanurae. Chilantaisaurus shares certain features with some spinosauroids: an enlarged and elongated first manual ungual, and a suprastragalar buttress that has been modified to a vertical ridge, but these characters are not unique to spinosauroids. Ahighly reduced fourth trochanter may be an autapomorphy of Chilantaisaurus, as has previously been suggested, or unite the taxon with Coelurosauria in an entirely novel grouping. On the basis of these observations it is likely that Chilantaisaurus is a neotetanuran, but unlikely that it is an allosauroid. Chilantaisaurus may belong to an alternative lineage of very large theropods that continued into the Cretaceous from the diversification of basal neotetanurans during the Middle Jurassic.
