Madzia, D. 2009. A new iguanodontian (Dinosauria: Ornithopoda) from the Upper Cretaceous of the Czech Republic. Journal of Dinosaur Musings 39 (2): 6-15.
Abstract – A new iguanodontian dinosaur Ridiculodon inexpectatus gen. et sp. nov. is described. The new taxon is known from nearly complete skull and the following postcranial elements: three cervical vertebrae, five dorsal vertebrae, complete right ulna, nearly complete pubis and partial ilium. The supposedly iguanodontian left femur described in Fejfar et al. (2005) may represent another individual of R. inexpectatus. The new taxon is diagnosed on the basis of the following autapomorphies: dorsoventrally expanded lacrimals forming 假-shaped process on the dorsal margin of the bones, and fractured-like ∑-shaped premaxillae with ♂-shaped processes visible from lateral views only. According to phylogenetic analysis R. inexpectatus gen. et sp. nov. is a member of Ridiculodontia (nomen cladi novum). This new clade name is defined as the clade stemming from the most recent common ancestor of Ridiculodon inexpectatus and Iguanodon bernissartensis.
